The shifting of earth, the nature of the material and its transience, I find of great interest. On a trip to Orkney, I collected a number of objects, which I took back to Edinburgh. I categorized the objects, clay, shells, seaweed; metal and glass, I then smashed and ground the objects to dust before returning it to the earth.
This process raised a question about the nature of objects. If I break up a shell into dust at what point does a shell or any other object become something else?
