The title comes from both arboreal root systems and philosophy. It refers to the idea that everything touches at some point, dense black wood, sunlight, and darkness. It is about not seeing what's there. Nature uses camouflage, therefore you can miss what's in front of you unless you really look. The work mimics this thinking.
